Kathleen began developing her craft while earning a B. S. in Art Education from Rosary Hill College in the early '60's. Her early works were influenced by children's books and childhood themes and their detailed illustrations. Through personal research of galleries and libraries Kathleen "discovered" the works of William Morris. She was drawn to medieval and nature themes along with literary passages and quotes. This shift in style also led to the hand coloring of her prints and influenced her development of a unique pre-Raphaelite quality. |

Long recognized as "the Premier Block Print Maker" of the revitalization of the Arts and Crafts movement, her works have attracted a growing following of collectors across the United States, Europe and the Far East. Her long and successful career has been acknowledged by her peers as a 30 year member of the Buffalo Society of Artists and her selection as a Roycroft Master Artisan. Her work hangs permanently in the Burchfield - Penney Museum in Buffalo New York. After the death of her husband in 2003, Kathleen remarried in 2005 and now resides in Newnan Georgia. | ||

Kathleen's prints can be enjoyed as an album of important family events, capturing forever the lines of her son's tricycle, a golden afternoon spent with her children in the Buffalo Zoo, and an Easter holiday on the Maine coast. Her series of the skyline prints offers a window into her personal history as well, including a view of Main St. in East Aurora, a row of houses from the Buffalo skyline, several skylines from the Maine coast that Kathleen has visited the past 18 summers with her family, and a row of proud homes that caught her eye during a trip to Dublin with her husband. In addition to these glimpses of local surroundings and family history, Kathleen's work reveals her widely ranging interest in history and literature. |
